Phnom Penh (VNA) - The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) convened its 39th meeting in Phnom Penh on January 9 with the participation of some 1,650 representatives from 25 cities and provinces nationwide.
The two-day event was presided over by the party's President Hun Sen, who is the Prime Minister of Cambodia, and the party's Honorary President Heng Samrin, who is the President of the National Assembly.
In his opening speech, Heng Samrin expressed that the CPP has led the country in gaining a number of achievements since the parliamentary elections in 2013, especially in the realms of political stability, economic development, social solidarity, and international integration.
He added that the CPP needs to continue efforts to win the people’s more trust in its leadership and vote for the party in the coming elections.
Heng Samrin said the meeting would focus on the party’s situation and work in 2015 and major tasks for 2016 as well as preparations for the commune council elections in 2017.-VNA
