Hanoi (VNA) – China’s President Xi Jinping met with Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni in Phnom Penh on October 13, vowing to carry forward the traditional friendship between the two countries.

King Sihamoni believed that Xi's visit will further enhance bilateral ties and make their cooperation even more fruitful.

Cambodia is ready to work with China to carry forward the traditional friendship and ensure that the relationship will get better, he said.

The Chinese President, for his part, said China is willing to work with Cambodia to faithfully promote bilateral friendship and deepen all-round cooperation so as to achieve common development and prosperity.

Xi is on a State visit to Cambodia on October 13-14. It is his first trip to the Southeast Asian nation as President.

As scheduled, he will travel to Bangladesh and the Goa state of India to attend the BRICS Summit slated for later this week following the Cambodia visit.-VNA
