Hanoi (VNA) – Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich is paying an official friendly visit to China from August 28-31.

The visit aims to continuously implement agreements reached by the two countries’ Party and State leaders such as increasing high-level delegation exchanges and deepening the bilateral military ties.

Minister Lich, who is also Politburo member and Vice Secretary of the Central Military Commission, is scheduled to hold talks with his Chinese counterpart Chang Wanquan and meet with senior officials from the Chinese Party, State and Central Military Commission.

He will also visit several units of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

In a recent interview with the Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) daily , Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Hong Xiaoyong has stated that the military relationship is an important pillar of the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

He said China values Lich’s visit, which is expected to help increase ties between the two countries’ States and armies.

He also hailed the Vietnam-China border defence exchange in 2015 and 2016 for enriching collaboration between the two armies and strengthening the belief in living together in peace between the two peoples.-VNA
