All seven patients tested positive with A/H1N1 virus in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai are recovering at provincial health care establishments.

On April 23-24, in Tong village in Quang Kim ward, Bat Xat district, five family members, including four children aging from 2-7 years old, showed the flu-like symptoms of high temperature, coughing and sore throat.

Four of them tested positive for A/H1N1 virus.

Meanwhile, three students at the provincial ethnic minority boarding school were confirmed to be infected with the deadly flu strain.

From April 24-30, 58 students of the school had flu-like symptoms such as headache, high temperature and body discomfort.

According to the Ministry of Health, Vietnam recorded over 300,000 flu infections in the first three months of this year.

The strain A/H1N1 killed two people in neighbouring Yen Bai province and one in central Thanh Hoa province.

The ministry has directed localities to continue applying measures to supervise and detect outbreaks to give timely treatment to flu infections.

It has also advised people to increase personal hygiene and sanitation, while coming to health care centres immediately when having flu-like symptoms.-VNA
