Russian naval officers pay tribute to martyrs

Officers from the Russian Pacific Fleet warships laid a wreath at the war fallen combatant monument in the central city of Da Nang on May 9.

The floral tribute was part of activities the warships made during their visit to Da Nang city on the occasion of the 66 th anniversary of the Stalingrad battle victory during the patriotic war of the Soviet Union .

Earlier, Russian guests received from the Vietnam-Russia Oil and Gas Joint Venture (Vietsovpetro) a memorial stele for Russian soldiers who had fallen in Vietnam .

The Russian warships belong to a taskforce, including ASW ship Admiral Vinogradov, tanker Rechenga and salvage tug SB-522, with 416 officers and crew members.

The taskforce, headed by Capt. Kovalev Ivan Alexandrovich, is on a four-day visit to Da Nang city, starting from May 7./.
