Beijing (VNA) – Thailand’s national-flag carrier Thai Airways has launched a direct air route from Phuket International Airport in southern Thailand to China’s capital Beijing.

There are four flights per week on the route, using Dreamliner B787 planes.

Bangornrat Chinaprayoon, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s Beijing Office, affirmed that this is an important route because Phuket is now an attractive destination for tourists from China – the largest tourism market of Thailand.

The new route will help draw more Chinese visitors to Thailand, especially on China’s holidays, he added.

Previously, tourists from Beijing had to go to Phuket via Bangkok.-VNA
