Thailand, Cambodia defence ministries set up hotline

(VNA) – Thailand and Cambodia agreed to form a hotline between their armies to
promote cooperation.
The decision was
made on March 30 after the meeting of the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Border
Committee in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Thai Defence Ministry
spokesperson Kongcheep Tantrawanit said the hotline will help the two sides
make contacts quickly at both decision-making and operation levels.
It is among
agreements reached at the Siem Reap meeting, which saw the presence of Thai Deputy
Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Prawit Wongsuwon and his Cambodian
counterpart Tea Banh.
At the meeting,
the two sides also discussed peacekeeping and joint patrols along the border.
Kongcheep
Tantrawanit said the Cambodian Minister of Defence Tea Banh also affirmed the
bilateral relations are in their best cordial in many years and pledged cooperation
to maintain that relationship.-VNA
