The decision was made on March 30 after the meeting of the Thailand-Cambodia Joint Border Committee in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Thai Defence Ministry spokesperson Kongcheep Tantrawanit said the hotline will help the two sides make contacts quickly at both decision-making and operation levels.

It is among agreements reached at the Siem Reap meeting, which saw the presence of Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Prawit Wongsuwon and his Cambodian counterpart Tea Banh.

At the meeting, the two sides also discussed peacekeeping and joint patrols along the border.
