Bangkok (VNA/NNT) - Thailand's Sa Kaeo province and Cambodia's Banteay Meanchey province will co-host Visakha Bucha Week to mark the religious occasion and to strengthen Thai-Cambodian relations. 

According to Permanent Secretary for the Provincial Office of Sakaeo Natthachai Nampoonsuksan, a meeting was held between Thai and Cambodian representatives at the provincial city hall to prepare for the week-long religious event to celebrate Vesak Day on May 10. 

The event will take place at Nong Kra Poh Temple and is aimed at commemorating Lord Buddha’s cremation, which falls on May 18th this year. Visitors will have a chance to learn about Lord Buddha and his teachings. 

Cultural shows, religious exhibitions and an almsgiving ceremony for Thai and Cambodian monks will be held throughout the religious week.-VNA
