Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Association of Vietnamese Cambodian People in Phnom Penh convened the sixth Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure on January 15, with 126 delegates from 12 chapters taking part.
The association’s executive board reported at the event that from 2012-2015, three chapters were built, raising the total to 12 in the capital city, with 144 officials at all levels.
Raising members’ awareness of the host country’s law and Khmer customs is a priority of the association, besides humanitarian activities such as offering free health check-ups and medicine, presenting gifts to disaster and Agent Orange victims and raising funds for the poor and families of ex-revolutionaries.
In the last tenure, the association raised more than 3.300 USD for disaster victims and those living in need, as well as calling on families to enroll their children in Vietnamese and Khmer language classes.
Huynh Minh Phu was re-elected as Chairman of the association for the new tenure.-VNA
