The Thai Commerce Ministry has been resolved to set up around 1,000 cheap restaurants across Bangkok in a bid to help ease rising costs of living for residents.

Around 300 restaurants have expressed interest to join the project, which is expected to be launched on August 8.

Participatingrestaurants will sell ten of their recommended single dish items at aprice of 25-35 THB. Related agencies hope that by September, the projectcan also be launched in other provinces across the country.

Theinitiative comes after the success of the “Blue Flag” fairs where blueflag caravans set off to offer the public necessary commodity items atdiscounted prices, which are 20-40 percent lower than the originalmarket prices.-VNA
