Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 17 million made-in-Vietnam products were sold to Amazon customers from September 2022 to September 2023, increasing the presence of Vietnamese goods globally, heard a Cross-border E-commerce Summit 2023 held in Hanoi on October 17.
According to Trinh Khac Toan, a representative from Amazon Global Selling, exports by Vietnamese firms via Amazon surged 50% in the period.
The number of Vietnamese trade partners on Amazon also soared 40% with thousands of Vietnamese enterprises seizing their global growth prospects with Amazon, proving their flexibility and tenacity amid economic challenges, he said.
The bestsellers were household, kitchen, personal healthcare, garment, and beauty items, Toan added.
Gijae Seong, CEO of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam said that one of the next megatrends for businesses going global is through e-commerce. The question is whether local businesses can embrace this trend quickly, capture global consumption demand, and create long-term growth.
He pledged to continue to help Vietnamese selling partners innovate and upgrade their products to best serve global customers, build global brands, and scale their global presence.
According to Eric Broussard, Amazon’s vice president of international marketplaces and retail, Vietnam is a newly emerging player of the global e-commerce supply chain.
He hailed Vietnam’s manufacturing strength, startup spirit, and fast digital transformation, saying that’s the reason why the corporation is expanding its presence in Vietnam and will continue boosting the success of Vietnamese enterprises.
Commenting on the role of e-commerce, Lai Viet Anh, Deputy General Director of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency (iDEA) at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, said e-commerce has changed the way businesses interact with other businesses and their customers. It also helps businesses overcome barriers in international trade, making it easier to expand to other markets. This creates motivation for the growth of exports and the national economy, she continued.
“The government pays close attention to facilitating and fostering the use of e-commerce,” she added.
“This is shown by various policies and regulations issued recently to help businesses with their digital transformation, as well as to support them on their quest to expand internationally through e-commerce applications.”
At the summit, the representative of Amazon Global Selling Vietnam announced the strategic priorities for 2024 across three pillars to support Vietnamese firms to make use of e-commerce channels to promote consumption of the products.
Amazon will boost the readiness of cross-border e-commerce in Vietnam by promoting cooperation with Government agencies and strategic partners. This will equip businesses with knowledge and provide training for local small and medium-sized enterprises. The development of service providers in the industry will be promoted along with spreading knowledge and experience-sharing activities within the seller community.
Amazon will accelerate local supply chain integration, including connecting sellers with manufacturers in many industries nationwide to expand made-in-Vietnam product portfolio, as well as encourage domestic manufacturing enterprises to quickly grasp online trends of export opportunities, he said.
The company will also help improve the quality and success of Vietnamese sellers through increasing investment and training of sellers, supporting the building of global brands, Toan added.
At the conference, the e-commerce giant also introduced a range of new and improved tools and programmes, such as a Fee Waiver, a Brand Tailored Promotion, and upgraded SEND. This should help to accelerate cross-border e-commerce and empower local businesses through every stage of their selling journey on Amazon./.
