Preparations for the 2014 Ha Long Carnival, slated to take place onApril 30 in the northern province of Quang Ninh, have been quickened upto ensure things go smoothly.
At a press briefing on April 16,Chairman of the Ha Long People’s Committee Doan Xuan Dan further saidthe event, themed “Quang Ninh – Convergence and Pervasion”, will bebroadcast live on VTV1, VTV4, and the locality’s TV channels.
The event will highlight a special 45-minute performance by localartists and 300 from China, Laos and Thailand, along with a carnivalparade expected to draw the participation of more than 3,800 localprofessional and amateur artists.
The event aims to spotlightthe province’s culture, tourism and cuisine, particularly celebrating HaLong Bay, a UNESCO-recognised World Natural Heritage site.
Last year’s annual event witnessed the participation of more than 5,000 actors and actresses, and welcomed 25,000 visitors.-VNA
