About 950 Vietnamese citizens brought home on November 10, 11

Some 950 Vietnamese citizens from across the globe were brought home safely aboard three Vietnam Airlines and one Qatar Airways flights on November 10 and 11 thanks to the collaboration between Vietnamese authorities, the host countries’ competent agencies, and the carriers.

Hanoi (VNA) – Some 950 Vietnamese citizens fromacross the globe were brought home safely aboard three Vietnam Airlines and oneQatar Airways flights on November 10 and 11 thanks to the collaboration betweenVietnamese authorities, the host countries’ competent agencies, and the carriers.

Of the total number, more than 280 people were repatriated fromRussia; nearly 50 from Qatar; close to 280 from Europe, America and Africa; andover 340 from Australia.

The passengers included children under 18 years old, theelderly, pregnant women, workers with expired visas, people with underlying illnesses,and those in extremely disadvantaged circumstances.

Vietnamese embassies in Russia, Qatar, France and Australiasent their staff to the airports to help the citizens with necessary proceduresfor the flights.

In-flight safety and preventive measures against theCOVID-19 pandemic were rigorously enforced to protect the passengers’ healthand prevent the spread of the disease.

All passengers and crew members received medical check-upsand were sent to quarantine in line with regulations upon arrival.

The repatriation of Vietnamese citizens in disadvantagedcircumstances abroad will continue to be conducted in line with their wishes,the development of the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine capacity in Vietnam./.

Binh Thuan ramps up measures to combat IUU fishing

According to the Binh Thuan Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has completed registration for all “three-no” fishing boats - vessels without registration, licences or monitoring systems - measuring six metres or more. About 2,710 such vessels have been registered, meeting 100% of the ministry’s requirements and 2,012 operational vessels have been fitted with VMS devices.

Vietnam, US hold 169th repatriation ceremony for American MIA servicemen

At the ceremony, Vietnam handed over four boxes containing remains recovered during recent joint excavations in Hue city, and Quang Tri and Kon Tum provinces. Preliminary forensic analysis on April 15 suggested the remains may belong to US MIAs and they will be sent to Hawaii for further identification.
