Hanoi (VNA) – The Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) on July 17 said it will invest nearly 12 trillion VND (528.03 million USD) to raise the capacity of the three international airports of Cat Bi, Phu Bai and Chu Lai by 2025.
The funds will be used to complete a parallel taxiway system at Cat Bi international airport in the northern port city of Hai Phong at an estimated cost of 900 billion VND (39.6 million USD), linking with the new runway which will be built in 2018.
In addition, 2.7 trillion VND (118.8 million USD) will be earmarked to build the airport’s new runway, terminals and apron to serve up to six million passengers per year.
Meanwhile, the ACV plans to allocate 165 billion VND (7.2 million USD) in 2017-2018 to raise the capacity of terminals of Chu Lai international airport in the central province of Quang Nam, aiming to receive 1.5-1.8 million passengers a year.
In 2018-2021, the ACV will spend an additional 5.5 trillion VND (242 million USD) to build a new runway, terminal and apron in the airport to serve five million passengers per year.
The corporation will also disburse 2.65 trillion VND (116.6 million USD) for a new terminal, parallel taxiway and equipment procurement along with three new aprons in Phu Bai international airport in the central Thua Thien-Hue province, aiming to operate 20 flights in peak time and serve four million passengers.-VNA
