Hanoi (VNA) - The ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) Plus Maritime Security and Counter-Terrorism Exercise, which is co-hosted by the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), is underway in Singapore and Brunei from May 2-12.

Approximately 3,500 personnel, 18 naval vessels, 25 aircraft and 40 special force teams from the ADMM-Plus countries were involved, according to Singapore's Minister of Defence Ng Eng Hen.

Participants were involved in shore-based activities from May 2-4 in Brunei, and sea-based activities from May 5-12 en-route to Singapore.

The Singaporean Minister said the multinational exercise is multinational efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.

According to Director of Joint Operations Brigadier-General Desmond Tan, ADMM-Plus provides an important and useful platform for militaries to enhance interoperability, as well as to build trust and confidence.

The ADMM-Plus is made up of 18 countries, namely the ten ASEAN countries as well as Australia, China, Japan, India, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Russia and the US.-VNA
