Hanoi, (VNA) – The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency on April 4.
-Politburo member and President Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended a ceremony in Hanoi on April 4 to mark the 15th founding anniversary of the Party Organisation of the Central Agencies’ Bloc (April 11).
President Phuc hailed the Party Organisation’s strong performance over the past 15 years in maintaining a strong organisation and completing all set targets, thus affirming its important position and role in the political system. Read full story
- The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) are committed to support the Government of Vietnam in realising the goal to tackle UXO pollution nationwide.
Han-Deog Cho, KOICA Country Director in Vietnam, and Caitlin Wiesen, UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam, jointly wrote an article on the occasion of International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action (April 4), with the theme for 2022 “Safe Ground, Safe Steps, Safe Home”. -Hanoi Party Committee’s Secretary Dinh Tien Dung and his Vientiane counterpart Anouphap Tounalom held talks in Vientiane on April 4, during which the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will serve as the foundation for bilateral cooperative activities in 2022-2025.
Accordingly, the two cities will maintain and promote the exchange of high-level delegations, continue to share experiences in the development of legal documents, supervise the building of the e-government, urban planning and management and create favourable conditions for exchanges between their departments, and mass organisations. - Vietnam will begin issuing vaccine passports from April 15, the Health Ministry announced on April 4.
Head of the ministry's Department of Information Technology Do Truong Duy said that to date the preparation work for the issuance has been completed.
The passport will be available on PC Covid-19 or Digital Health (So suc khoe dien tu) apps. Read full story
-The Hanoi Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union will recruit 2,500 - 3,000 young volunteers to support the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games), slated for May 12 - 23.
Eligible candidates need to have good health, been vaccinated with at least two COVID-19 vaccine doses, show high sense of responsibility, and comply with the organising board’s regulations, according to a plan issued by the committee’s standing board. Read full story
-The Standing Office of the National Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has asked authorities in the Central and Central Highlands to get prepared to respond to heavy rain, whirlwind, flash floods and landslides as well as tropical depressions, storms which may occur earlier than normal.
The central region has recorded heavy downpours with rainfall of 200 - 500mm, even over 750mm in some places, which is abnormal in the dry season. The abnormal torrential rains and subsequent flooding in central provinces have killed two people, injured five, and caused one to go missing, according to the office’s report. Read full story
- As of April 3, Vietnamese companies had recovered 12 out of 35 containers of cashew nuts exported to Italy whose original documents was lost, a positive progress thanks to great efforts and active support of relevant parties.
Another good news in the case is that so far, Vietnamese businesses have managed to re-export 18 containers to the Netherlands and Turkey. Read full story/.
