Hanoi, (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

-The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee commenced its20th session in Hanoi on February 13 morning.
Opening the event, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue saidthe three-day session will look into the draft law on civil defence, the draftlaw on protection of consumer rights, and the draft revised one on electronictransactions, which were discussed for the first time at the 15th parliament’sfourth session in late 2022.Read full text

-Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 12 described QuangNinh as a miniature Vietnam that holds a strategic position in terms ofpolitics, economy, defence, security, and diplomacy.
He was addressing a meeting with officials of thenortheastern province after a conference launching the Government’s action planfor implementing the Politburo’s Resolution No 30-NQ/TW on socio-economicdevelopment in the Red River Delta.Read full text

-The Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey has been urgently performingcitizen protection measures, and actively supporting the mission of theMinistry of Public Security which is on search-and-rescue duty in areas bearingthe brunt of the devastating February 6 earthquake, according to Ambassador DoSon Hai.

-Seventy six military personnel of Vietnam departed for Turkeyon February 12 night to assist the country in recovery efforts following adevastating earthquake.
The same day, 35 tonnes of cargo were also transported to NoiBai International Airport and then to Turkey to serve the rescue work.Read full text

-An international rescue delegation of the Vietnamese Ministryof Public Security on February 12 presented medical equipment and suppliesweighing 2 tonnes to Turkey, recently affected by a devastating earthquake,through this country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
The aid includes emergency medicine, essentialdrugs, medical supplies, tents, chemicals for disease prevention and control,and medical equipment used in disaster emergency situations.Read full text

-Leaders of the Border Guard High Command under the VietnameseMinistry of National Defence and the Cambodian Ministry of Interior's GeneralDepartment of Immigration held talks in Ho Chi Minh City on February 12,discussing measures to enhance coordination in border protection and management.

-A patrol ship of Japan's coast guard force arrived at Tien SaPort on February 13, beginning a six-day visit to the central city of Da Nang.

-Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee VoVan Hoan on February 13 received Minister of Agriculture, Food and RuralAffairs Lisa Thompson of Canada’s Ontario province.
The host official said on the basis of thefruitful Vietnam - Canada cooperation, relations between HCM City and the NorthAmerican country have enjoyed strong development. Canada has poured about 130million USD into 119 projects in the city, ranking 22nd among the 117 countriesand territories investing here.Read full text

-Vietnam’sinternational Internet connections have been improved step by step aftertechnical measures are taken and more data flows on land-based cables areopened up, according to the Vietnam Telecommunications Authority under theMinistry of Information and Communications.

-Vietnam’s tourism has won the praise ofinternational media, according to the Vietnam National Administration ofTourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

-USmagazine Travel Leisure has named Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay among the four idyllicseaside places across Asia to watch sunrise and sunset.

Vietnam presides over opening session of 36th meeting of States Parties to UNCLOS

Against the backdrop of mounting challenges facing the oceans, including climate change, marine pollution, biodiversity loss, maritime security concerns, and the impacts of emerging technologies, Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu called for stronger international cooperation and greater resource mobilisation to protect the oceans and ensure a peaceful, secure, and sustainable marine environment.

Conference mulls over legislative roadmap for 16th NA’s term

In his keynote speech, NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Khac Dinh presented the conclusion as a strategic vision for legal reform in the new development period. It spells out concrete goals, nine major orientations, six bundles of tasks and solutions, and assigns specific duties to the relevant bodies.

Vietnam promotes defence cooperation at Eurosatory 2026

During the event, the Vietnamese delegation met with major French defence firms, including Airbus and UNAC, to discuss technology transfer, human resource training, technical support and defence industry development. Vietnam also invited international partners to participate in the Vietnam International Defence Expo 2026, scheduled to be held in Hanoi this December.

Implementation of Resolution 71 must be carried out with strict discipline, regular inspections and continuous monitoring. The Ministry of Education and Training should establish a transparent system for tracking implementation through specific and regularly updated indicators. Each objective must be translated into concrete tasks, resources, timelines and responsible agencies.
