– State President Luong Cuong offered incense in commemoration of late Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, and paid visits to former Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh and former State President Tran Duc Luong in Hanoi on January 22 on the threshold of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2025.

– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a keynote speech at the seminar on the future of global trade and development in the smart era, in Davos on January 21 afternoon (local time).
Held within the framework of the 55th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and bilateral activities in Switzerland, the seminar was designed exclusively for Vietnam by the WEF, serving as a platform to shape the agenda for the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD16) to be hosted by Vietnam later this year. – PM Pham Minh Chinh received the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Daren Tang in Davos on January 21 (local time) within the framework of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and bilateral activities in Switzerland.
At the reception, PM Chinh highly valued the WIPO's issuance of the Global Innovation Index (GII) for 2024. He said that Vietnam will invest heavily in innovation, science and technology, and digital transformation, and hoped that WIPO will accompany and support Vietnam to continue to improve its ranking in the GII. – Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man paid working visits to the Can Tho University and Nam Can Tho University on January 22 as part of his trip to the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

– Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the United Nations Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang welcomed the newly reached ceasefire agreements between Israel and Hamas, and between Israel and Lebanon. He also highly appreciated the international diplomatic efforts that have contributed to promoting dialogue between the parties, bringing the prospect of ending the conflict in Gaza and creating a foundation for sustainable peace in the region.
He made the remarks while addressing the United Nations Security Council (UNSC)’s open ministerial discussion on the situation in the Middle East and Palestine on January 21 under the chair of Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, which holds the presidency of the UNSC in January 2025. – Vietnam’s rice exports to Singapore recorded significant growth in 2024, cementing Vietnam’s position as the third-largest rice supplier of the city state, according to the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore.
