- Party General Secretary To Lam chaired the first meeting of the Central Steering Committee for the Development of Science, Technology, Innovation and Digital Transformation in Hanoi on January 20.
Addressing the event, Lam, who is head of the steering committee, stressed that the implementation of tasks should focus on and prioritise the core issues outlined in the Politburo's Resolution No.57-NQ/TW, dated on December 22, 2024, on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation, with emphasis placed on removing institutional barriers to the development of science and technology. - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam received a high-ranking delegation of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) led by Ouch Borith, a member of the CPP Central Committee's Standing Board and First Vice President of the Cambodian Senate in Hanoi on January 20.
Lam appreciated the significance of the trip in deepening the traditional friendship between the two Parties and countries. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, his spouse, and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam landed at Zurich Airport on January 20 night (local time), beginning a working visit to Switzerland, during which the leader will attend the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos and conduct bilateral activities.

- As part of his official visit to the Czech Republic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Czech Senate President Miloš Vystrčil in Prague on January 20 afternoon (local time).
At the meeting, PM Chinh affirmed that in her foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralism, and diversification of relations, Vietnam treasures and hopes to strengthen ties with traditional partners in the Central and Eastern Europe, with the Czech Republic being a top priority. - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Ito Naoki in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on January 20.
During the reception, Man thanked the ambassador for helping to successfully organise his visit to Japan from December 3 to 7 last year. On this occasion, he asked Ito to convey his regards and wishes to the Emperor, Empress, and Prime Minister of Japan, as well as the President of the House of Councillors and the Speaker of the House of Representatives. - A bilateral agreement between the Vietnamese and US Governments regarding anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese fish fillets was signed on January 20, marking the end of relevant disputes in Case DS536 at the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Under this agreement, signed by the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Office of the US Trade Representative (USTR), Vinh Hoan Corporation – the only firm eligible for tax removal under US regulations and also Vietnam’s leading exporter of tra and basa fish – had anti-dumping duties cut when exporting tra and basa fish to the US./.
