– Party General Secretary To Lam chaired the second meeting of the Central Steering Committee for summarising the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW of the 12th Party Central Committee in Hanoi on January 21.
The Party chief asked for the Central Steering Committee's further research and refinement related the work to ensure that the new organisational apparatus of the political system is stable, operates effectively, stressing that streamlining of the apparatus is not a one-time task. Read full story
– Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at a country strategic dialogue on unlocking Vietnam's growth potential to promote investment and innovation for a prosperous future within the framework of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF Davos 55) in Davos, Switzerland, on January 21 morning (local time).
The dialogue saw the participation of the WEF's Head of Regional Agenda for Asia-Pacific Joo-Ok Lee, along with more than 60 global business leaders who are members of the WEF. – PM Pham Minh Chinh received Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi on the sidelines of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, on January 21.
PM Chinh affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation with the GCC and its member countries. He shared good impressions during his visits to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia (Saudi Arabia) and Qatar in October 2024; and informed that during the trips, Vietnam and these countries have created new frameworks to develop bilateral relations in a deeper and more practical manner, especially the establishment of the Comprehensive Partnership framework and the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the UAE. – PM Pham Minh Chinh held talks with Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter in Davos on January 21 afternoon (local time), within the framework of the 55th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) and his bilateral activities in Switzerland.
Building on the strong foundation of their enduring friendship and shared vision, they agreed that now is the ideal time to elevate their countries' relations to a Comprehensive Partnership, with shared principles and broad directions, aiming to create breakthroughs to deepen bilateral ties in a more comprehensive and substantive manner, and foster cooperation at both regional and global scales. – PM Pham Minh Chinh on January 21 attended a roundtable on developing the Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) and an international financial centre in Ho Chi Minh City, during which he expressed his hope to learn from foreign friends’ experiences in this work.
Thanks to joint efforts by all parties, the C4IR has been inaugurated in HCM City, and the construction of the International Financial Centre in the city is also underway, he shared, affirming that the establishment of the C4IR has played a significant role in promoting science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation. – The Francophone Parliamentary Forum on sustainable agriculture, food security, and climate change adaptation, hosted by the Vietnamese National Assembly (NA) in Can Tho city successfully concluded on January 21 afternoon with the adoption of Can Tho Declaration.
In his closing remarks, NA Vice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai emphasised that discussions reached common perceptions which are reflected in the “Can Tho Declaration” with strong determination and commitment from French-speaking parliamentarians to promote sustainable development and address global challenges. – NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man received Vice President of the Lao NA Sommad Pholsena in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on January 21 on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Francophonie (APF) Executive Committee’s Meeting and the Francophone parliamentary cooperation forum on sustainable agriculture, food security, and climate change.

– The agreement on visa exemption for Vietnamese and Bulgarian holders of ordinary passports, signed by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang and her Belarusian counterpart Evgeny Shestakov in Hanoi on December 8, 2023, will come into effect on January 30, 2025.
The agreement allows holders of ordinary passports from both countries to travel visa-free for up to 30 days per visit, with a total stay not exceeding 90 days within a year. Read full story./.
