– Algerian Ambassador to Vietnam Sofiane Chaib has expressed his deep condolences over the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, affirming his legacy will be a source of inspirations for the Southeast Asian nation and its people.

After learning of the Party chief’s passing, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune also sent a letter of sympathy to his Vietnamese counterpart To Lam, in which the former highlighted sincere sentiments and solidarity with the Vietnamese people.Read full story

- The number of international tourists visiting Vietnam in July reached topped 1.15 million, lifting the total in the first seven months to nearly 10 million, expanding by 10.9% and 51% year-on-year, respectively.

The figure reported in the January – July period increased by 1.9% compared to that in the same period of 2019 when COVID-19 had yet to disrupt global travel.Read full story

- Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of 14.08 billion USD in the first seven months of this year, the General Statistics Office announced on July 29.

In the reviewed period, the country’s trade turnover reached nearly 440 billion USD, with exports totaling 226.98 billion USD and imports 212.9 billion USD, up 15.7% and 18.5% year-on-year, respectively.Read full story

- Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) in the January – July period inched up 4.12% from the same time last year, mostly due to increases in tuition fees, healthcare services, housing costs and prices of power, water, fuels and building materials, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).

Surging petrol prices, high demand for power, and adjusted health insurance premium pushed up the CPI in July to 0.48% as compared to the previous month.Read full story

– Cam Ranh city in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa will hold the first-ever lobster festival from August 3-11, heard a press conference held in the locality on July 28.

According to Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Ngo Huu Hien, the festival will be an opportunity for Cam Ranh, dubbed “a kingdom of lobsters”, to popularise its staple, promote trade, and expand market domestically and internationally.Read full story

- Traffic accidents killed 6,204 people nationwide in the first seven months of this year, a decline of 717 or 10.36% year-on-year, according to the National Committee for Traffic Safety.
