Hanoi, (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had separate meetings in New Delhi on July 31 with representatives of leading Indian groups specialising in infrastructure and pharmacy, calling on them to invest in big, high-tech projects in Vietnam, as part of his ongoing state visit to India.

Meeting Gautam Adani, Chairman and Founder of Adani Group that is operating in infrastructure, transport and energy, the PM lauded the business’s operation in Vietnam over the past years as well as its expansion plan in the time ahead.Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s state visit to India from July 30 to August 1 is a critically important occasion for the two countries to look back on their achievements obtained so far, especially since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016, said Indian Ambassador to Vietnam Sandeep Arya.

Talking to the media ahead of the trip, made at the invitation of Indian PM Narendra Modi, Arya noted over the last 52 years, Vietnam and India have gradually and steadily upgraded bilateral relations to new levels, now the comprehensive strategic partnership. Political understanding, cooperation, and mutual support at international forums like the United Nations and other multilateral mechanisms could be seen clearly during this process.Read full story

- Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on July 31 called for acceleration of Asian Development Bank (ADB) financed projects, while hosting ADB Country Director for Vietnam Shantanu Chakraborty in Hanoi.

- Vietnam and Cambodia, boasting similarities in the practice of Buddhism, should share experience with each other in building the great national solidarity to create favourable conditions for their people to exercise the right to freedom of belief and religion, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra said on July 31.

- The EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) has strengthened Vietnam's attractiveness for European investors, stated a survey by the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) on July 31.

According to the EuroCham Business Confidence Index (BCI) survey conducted by Decision Lab, released as the EVFTA approaches the fourth anniversary of its entry into force on 1 August 2024, the EU, already a major investor in the country, has poured 28 billion EUR (nearly 30.3 billion USD) into 2,450 projects, underscoring its continued confidence in Vietnam's potential.Read full story

- Agro-forestry-aquatic product exports raked in 34.27 billion USD in the first seven months of 2024, up 18.8% from the same period last year, said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).

Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of 9.42 billion USD in the agro-forestry-fishery sector during the period, surging 60% year-on-year, statistics show.Read full story

-Vietnam sent more than 78,000 workers abroad in the first half of this year, fulfilling 62.4% of the yearly target, according to the Department of Overseas Labour under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

- There remain ample room and opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to expand business and investment cooperation with partners in Hong Kong (China) which is always considered an extremely potential market for foreign firms, said insiders.

Hong Kong serves as a gateway for investment, trade, finance, and logistics connection between China and the region and the world through initiatives such as the “Belt and Road” and the “Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area” (Greater Bay Area (GBA).
