Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had a working session with the Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) in Hanoi on June 13, during which he highlighted the need to further develop a contingent of highly-qualified journalists and a professional, modern and humanitarian Vietnamese revolutionary press, for the interest of the nation and the people’s happiness.

At the event, held on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023), he underlined the significant role of the VJA in gathering journalists and helping them improve their political mettle and professional skills, hailing its contributions to the success of the national revolution and the strengthening of social consensus over the past 73 years since its establishment. Read full story

- The official visit to Vietnam from June 13-16 by President of Côte d’Ivoire's National Assembly Adama Bictogo will mark a new development for the two countries’ relations.

The visit, made at an invitation of Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, is the first by a senior leader of the West African country to the Southeast Asian nation since the two set up their diplomatic ties 48 years ago. Read full story

- Many reputable international organisations have shown their optimism about Vietnamese economic outlook, predicting that the country can complete its GDP growth target of 6.5% this year.

The World Bank (WB) has announced its updated forecast of Vietnam’s GDP growth of about 6% in 2023, down about 0.3% compared to the prediction that the lender made in January. However, the growth rate is still the highest in the Southeast Asian region despite the gloomy global economic situation.Read full story

- Brazil is Vietnam’s trading partner in Latin America and one of the three largest markets of Việt Nam in the Americas market, according to the Vietnam Trade Office in Brazil.

Brazil is a very large and potential market for Vietnamese goods. This market is not too strict and people's tastes are very diverse. Read full story  

- Vietnam and Malaysia, one of its most important trading partners, have set a bilateral trade target of 18 billion USD by 2025.

Speaking at a meeting on June 12, Tran Phu Lu, deputy director of HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), said the city will continue to improve its business climate and streamline administrative reform, including creating favourable conditions for Malaysian investors. Read full story

- A new report by Prime Minister’s Advisory Council for Administrative Procedure Reform has identified nine groups of challenges that enterprises in Vietnam are facing in the coming time.

They include the increase of inflation rate/prices of goods and materials; the risks of crisis and increasing costs that suppliers suffer; the insufficient quality of human resources; the improper logistics services; the labour shortage; the changes and lack of transparency in regulations related to governance/environment/society; the technology/digital and cybersecurity-related risks; the ethical/legal/reputational risks of distributors/intermediaries and agents; and difficulties for business to access bank capital. Read full story

- Additional 10 suspects were arrested on the night of June 12 for involving in the June 11 gun attacks on the headquarters of the People’s Committees of Ea Tieu and Ea Ktur communes, including the communes’ police stations, in Cu Kuin district of the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak, said Spokesman of the Ministry of Public Security Lieut. Gen. To An Xo on June 13.

Xo said that as of June 13 morning, the total number of detained suspects had increased to 39, including two turning themselves in at night. Read full story
