Hanoi, (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

– Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai hosted a reception in Hanoi on June 23 for President and CEO of the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) Kim Sung-tae and Chairman and CEO of the Korea Development Bank (KDB) Kang Seoghoon who are accompanying President of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Yoon Suk Yeol during his ongoing state visit to Vietnam.
Underlining that the Vietnamese Government hopes that with the lifting up of bilateral ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership, the two sides will enter a new glorious chapter of cooperation, Khai said he expects RoK businesses, including its banks in Vietnam, will further promote their role and support the growth of partnership between the two countries, especially in economy.Read full text

– The 15th National Assembly (NA) approved the revised Law on Bidding on June 23 during its ongoing fifth plenary session.
Before the voting, Chairman of the NA’s Finance and Budget Committee Le Quang Manh presented the NA Standing Committee’s report giving further explanations on the draft and the revision of the draft based on received feedback and recommendations.Read full text

– The UN’s freshly-adopted agreement on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity of areas beyond national jurisdiction (the Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdiction Treaty, also known as the Treaty of the High Seas) marks a new development milestone of international law, said Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Vietnam’s Permanent Representative to the UN.
It is the third treaty to enforce the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), following the UN Fish Stocks Agreement and the Agreement on Part XI of the UNCLOS.Read full text 

– Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Phan Chi Thanh on June 22 paid a courtesy visit to Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai in Bangkok on June 22.
The ambassador expressed his delight about the fruitful development of relations between the two countries in all areas, including politics, foreign affairs, economy, investment, trade and culture.Read full text

– An expert of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has expressed his optimism about the future of the RoK - Vietnam relations, and said the ongoing State visit by his country’s President Yoon Suk Yeol could probably provide a catalyst for the future progress of bilateral relations.
Talking to the Vietnam News Agency, Prof. Choe Won-gi, head of the Centre for ASEAN - India Studies at the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA), said that the June 22-24 visit is very important because Vietnam is the first Southeast Asian country that President Yoon has visited after he took office in 2022, which implies that Vietnam is very important for the RoK.Read full text

- A ceremony was held at the Tong Khao martyr’s cementary in the northwestern mountainous province of Dien Bien on June 23 to rebury the remains of eight Vietnamese volunteer soldiers who laid down their lives in Laos during the wartime.
The remains were found and collected during the past six months by a repatriation team of Military Region 2 with the support by authorities and people of six northern Lao provinces.Read full text

– Automechanika Ho Chi Minh City – a leading regional trade fair for automotive services - kicked off on June 23 in Ho Chi Minh City with the participation of over 460 exhibitors from 20 countries and territories.
This year, the annual fifth edition sees a record number of exhibitors which is 28% higher than that of the previous one.Read full text

– The book " A Miracle Vietnam" by Dr. Pavel Suian published recently in Romania brings to readers an overview of Vietnam and is regarded as a valuable resource for those interested in Vietnam in this Eastern European country.
Dr. Suian, a politician and retired university professor, said that he wrote this book primarily out of admiration for Vietnam's history and culture, as well as his profound respect for the revolutionary heroism and the bravery of the Vietnamese people during the struggle for national liberation.Read full text/.
