Hanoi (VNA) - The following is a brief review of the day’s events as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on September 11 asked ministries, agencies, and localities to work around the clock in response to emergencies in the context of complex flooding situation in northern cities and provinces following Typhoon Yagi.
Speaking before a meeting of permanent cabinet members on law-building, the PM noted that post-typhoon floods and landslides had left 296 people dead and missing as of 3:00 pm on the day, and stressed that people’s health and life must be put first and foremost. The Government leader ordered the engagement of the entire political system, and the employment of all measures to cope with floods and landslides. Read full story
- Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi on September 11 morning, concluding his successful official visit to Russia, where he also co-chaired the third meeting of the Vietnam - Russia Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
The trip from September 8-10 was made at the invitation of Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin, and Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko. Read full story
- General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, his spouse and the high-ranking Lao delegation laid a wreath at President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi on September 11 morning to pay tribute to the national leader of Vietnam.
The wreath bears the words: “President Ho Chi Minh lives forever in our revolutionary cause”. Read full story
- Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh on September 10 held working sessions with representatives of some leading groups in Hong Kong (China) as part of his trip to Hong Kong for attendance at the 9th Belt and Road Summit.
Meeting leaders of Swire Pacific, Jardine Matheson and Golden Resource Development (GR), Binh spoke highly of their operations in Vietnam, and affirmed that the Vietnamese Government is always committed to supporting and creating all possible conditions for foreign investors, particularly those from Hong Kong, to do long-term business in the country. - Irish President Michael D. Higgins has commended Vietnam on its increasingly prominent role and prestige in the region and on the global stage, highlighting the country's significant contributions to maintaining a peaceful and stable environment regionally as well as the cohesion and centrality of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on numerous critical issues.
Higgins made his remarks while receiving Vietnamese Ambassador to the UK and Ireland Do Minh Hung, who came to present his letter of credence in Dublin on September 10. Read full story
- Vietnam supports every effort in helping United Nations peacekeeping operations become more effective and adaptive, said Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN.

- Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Minister-Counsellor Le Dinh Ba held a working session on September 9 with a delegation from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) of the US led by its director of global policy for trade and supply chain matter.
At the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of a discussion chaired by SIA on the role of WTO in restoring the semiconductor industry’s supply at the WTO Public Forum, taking place from September 10-13, Carrie Esko from SIA said the association is very interested in Vietnam's semiconductor industry and has contributed to the country's draft strategy for the development of the semiconductor industry. - In response to the devastating impact of Typhoon Yagi and the subsequent floods affecting Vietnam’s northern provinces and cities, Vietjet is mobilising its resources and calling for employees to provide urgent relief to those in need.
On September 10, Vietjet’s management board called on the airline’s staff to donate to support communities affected by the natural disasters. In a remarkable show of solidarity, up to 8,000 Vietjet employees have come togetherto contribute and share the hardships of families who have suffered losses and damages. Read full story
- Dong Tam Group of Vietnam and CS Wind Group of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on September 10 signed a cooperation agreement on land leasing for a large-scale wind power equipment factory in the Mekong Delta province of Long An with a total investment capital of 200 million USD.
The factory will be located in the Southeast Asia Industrial Park built by Dong Tam Group in the province's Can Giuoc district./.Read full story
