A delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Vietnam on September 24 held a working session with authorities in the southern province of Dong Nai as part of its efforts to expand cooperation in foreign investment, export promotion and high-quality human resources training.

According to Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment Bo Ngoc Thu, Dong Nai province wants foreign investors, including US businesses, to invest in such areas as high-tech industry, supporting industry, high-tech farming and breeding projects, safe food processing and transport infrastructure.

AmCham Vietnam President Mark Gillin said his association is seeking cooperation with Vietnam , particularly Dong Nai province, in producing garment accessories as AmCham Hong Kong ( China ) is expressing its intention to invest about one billion USD in Vietnam in this field.

Officials from several US businesses such as Intel and Walmart proposed to increase cooperation with the province in a number of areas, especially training human resources for high-tech industry.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Quoc Thai said the locality attaches importance to high-quality human resources training and expressed his desire to cooperate with AmCham and the US businesses in the long term.

The two sides agreed to organise a festival of goods and services suppliers in the province in the coming time to boost import-export activities.

Dong Nai has so far attracted more than 1,400 investment projects by businesses from 40 countries and territories with a total registered capital of neary 24 billion USD.-VNA
