Army’s 70th founding anniversary marked in China, Malaysia

The Vietnam People’s Army (VPA) has received valuable support and assistance from peace lovers and armies throughout the world, including those from China, to create glorious feats of arms over the past seven decades, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Nguyen Van Tho has stated.

Addressing a Beijing ceremony on December16 to mark the 70th founding anniversary of the VPA and 25 th AllPeople’s Defence Day, the diplomat recalled the 70-year developmenthistory of the army.

Under the leadership of theCommunist Party of Vietnam and late President Ho Chi Minh, the34-strong force at first grew rapidly and worked together with allpeople to win glorious victories during the country’s struggles fornational liberation and sovereignty, he added.

Regarding the Vietnam-China defence relation, he affirmed that it hasseen positive developments with the two armies’ tightened cooperation inboth land and sea patrols, search and rescue operations and crimecombat.

On this occasion, an art troupe from thenorthern province of Quang Ninh toured the two Malaysian states ofJohor and Selangor to serve Vietnamese people there.-VNA

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.

The trip also included meetings with Vietnamese diplomatic staff and the Vietnamese community in China, exchanges with relatives of Chinese generals, experts and others who had supported Vietnam-China friendship, attendance at a Vietnam - China friendship art programme, a visit to the historic Nanning Yucai School, and participation in activities launching a Vietnam–China Border People’s Festival 2026.
