Hanoi (VNA) – The 12th edition of the “Mau hoa do” (Red Flowers) art programme was held in Hanoi on July 25 evening, on the occasion of 72nd War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27).

The event, attended by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, aimed to show gratitude to martyrs, wounded soldiers, heroic mothers and revolution contributors.

First held in 2008 by the Communist Party of Vietnam Online Newspaper, the art programme’s organising board has canvassed social organisations, businesses and individuals to assist martyrs’ families and wounded soldiers, Vietnamese heroic mothers and revolution contributors.

Since then, more than 48 billion VND (2.07 million USD) has been mobilized to present over 12,000 savings accounts, build over 600 charitable houses, give thousands of gifts to wounded soldiers’ and martyrs’ families, Vietnamese heroic mothers, revolution contributors, disadvantaged people and poor pupils across the country.

Within the framework of the event, the organising board granted presents worth over 3 billion VND to the needy.

Participants in the programme were entertained with art performances highlighting the images of Vietnamese soldiers during the wartime, the sacrifices by heroic mothers and touching stories on fierce battlefields.-VNA
