Jakarta (VNA) – ASEAN leaders sat down together in Jarkata on April 24 to mull over the Myanmar situation.

According to Indonesia President Joko Widodo, theleaders reached an agreement on the issue, which will be announced by the SecretaryGeneral of the bloc.

Widodo proposed ASEAN send a special envoy tocontact all sides in Myanmar and set up aid channels for the country.

The discussion took place at the ASEAN Secretariat’s headquarters in the capital of Indonesia at theinvitation of Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah, who is the Chair of ASEAN 2021. PrimeMinister Pham Minh Chinh represented Vietnam at the event./.

ASEAN accelerates trade talks with US ahead of tariff suspension deadline

According to the earlier US tariff announcement, Cambodia encounters the highest rates of 49%, followed by Laos (48%), Vietnam (46%), Myanmar (44%), Thailand (36%), and Indonesia (32%). Meanwhile, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines, and Singapore face lower rates ranging from 10% to 24%.
