Bac Giang (VNA) – Director of the Bac Giang provincial Department of Science and Technology Nguyen Thanh Binh has underlined the province’s commitment to the effective implementation of the national strategy on AI research, development and application.

The northern province will allocate State funding to bolster AI development and application in its local units, integrating AI-related tasks into the broader socio-economic development plans. It will also draw firms eager to innovate in sci-tech and AI sector.

Priority will be also given to infrastructure, training equipment, and digital tools to scale up training for key industries at the national, ASEAN, and international levels, thus meeting labour market demand. Private sector investment in vocational education to support the growth of high-tech industries will also be crucial.

According to Binh, Bac Giang proposed the Ministry of Science and Technology, ministries and agencies continue advising the Government to establish unified standards and technical regulations for AI applications in the Government agencies’ portals.

Resources for national-level sci-tech tasks involving AI in key programmes, including rural and mountainous development, technological innovation, hi-tech development, national product creation, improving productivity and quality for businesses, and intellectual property management, will also be prioritised.

Binh also mentioned a proposal to select Bac Giang as a site for AI applications in hi-tech agriculture, smart tourism, urban, transportation and hospital development.

Last year, vocational training establishments intensified collaboration with enterprises and training centres specialised in semiconductor and AI industries. For instance, the Vietnam-Korea Vocational College of Technology partnered with semiconductor producer Hana Micron Vina at the Van Trung Industrial Park and with SEOJIN Vietnam at the Song Khe – Noi Hoang Industrial Park to train workers in automation and industrial robotics. A “1+1+1” training model was introduced with GOERTEK VINA at the Que Vo IP, blending classroom learning, hands-on experience and workplace training to prepare students for careers in production automation

In smart urban management, local sectors and authorities effectively operated the Intelligent Operations Centre (IOC) in Bac Giang city and the wider province. These centres incorporate AI functionalities such as vehicle license plate recognition, crowd detection, flood and fire alerts, warnings of waste disposal and parking violations.

The department, in partnership with telecom provider MobiFone Bac Giang, held a seminar on AI application and digital technology - breakthrough in business operations and marketing, with the introduction of helpful technology trends and tools such as Chat GPT, Gamma, Zalo Mini App, Super App, and VR360.

Through the event, companies gained a clearer understanding of the benefits AI and technology offer, underlining the importance of developing their own digital transformation plans to stay competitive in an ever-evolving market.
