Hanoi (VNA) – Newest carrierBamboo Airways begins to carry relief goods to flood-hit victims in the centralregion free-of-charge starting from October 19, a representative of the airlinehas said.

Accordingly, aid packages weighing lessthan 40 kg will be prioritised on flights from Hanoi and HCM City to Vinh (NgheAn province), Dong Hoi (Quang Binh province), Chu Lai (Quang Nam province) andDa Nang city.

Floods and landslides triggered bytorrential rains over the past weeks in the central and Central Highlandsregions, particularly Thua Thien – Hue and Quang Tri provinces, claimed 84lives and left 38 others missing as of 6pm on October 18, according to the Office of the SteeringCommittee on Natural Disaster Prevention and Control.

Heavy rain is predicted to last in thecoming days, posing a high risk of landslides and flash floods in the centraland Central Highlands regions./.
