Hanoi (VNA) – Bamboo Airways, the fifth airline in Vietnam, willstart selling tickets from 12pm on January 12, its Vice President, Duong ThiMai Hoa, told press on January 10.

The airline is now integrating multiple payment gateways which are familiarwith customers – like NAPAS, VNPay, and the mobile app of Military Bank – intoits website, she said. Bamboo Aiways will provide a wide range of tickets,namely Bamboo Eco, Bamboo Plus, and Bamboo Business. Customers can also buytickets at Bamboo’s 1,000 agents nationwide.

Additionally, check-in procedures will be able to run via mobile phone, QR Code,or check-in kiosks at the airport during the second quarter.

In addition, the airline will launch various unique promotional campaigns beforeits first flight takes off.

Bamboo Airways received itslicence to transport passengers, mail, and freight following those of nationalflag carrier Vietnam Airlines, budget operators Jetstar Pacific and VietjetAir, and Viet Nam Air Service (VASCO).

Bamboo Airways is part of the Viet BambooAirlines Company based in Quy Nhon in Binh Dinh province. Viet Bamboo Airlines Company, owned by propertydeveloper FLC Group, was established in 2017 with the charter capital of 700billion VND (31.4 million USD).

FLC has positionedBamboo Airways as a hybrid airline, blending low-cost traits with those oftraditional or full-service carriers to meet the demands of every marketsegment.

The group has alsoinvested in infrastructure for aviation operations, such as upgrading Phu CatAirport in Quy Nhon City and roads connecting the airport to the Nhon HoiEconomic Zone.

As planned, the carrier will operate 37 routesconnecting major cities and tourist destinations at home and abroad in 2019. The first domestic routes will be Hanoi-Quy Nhon,Hanoi-Dong Hoi, Ho Chi Minh City-Quy Nhon, Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City, and Ho ChiMinh City-Van Don. Up to 60 domestic flights per day are planned. 

Flights to Asia and Europe such as Japan, theRepublic of Korea, and Singapore will use wide-body aircraft. 

It has also signed amemorandum of understanding with the Civil Authority of Vietnam on usinglanding services and security checks at Tan Son Nhat (HCM City), No Bai (Hanoi),Phu Cat (Quy Nhon), Dong Hoi (Quang Binh), Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa), and Cat Bi (HaiPhong). –VNA

Domestic consumption up over 13%, tourism continues strong growth

The total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenues in August were estimated at 679.8 trillion VND (26 billion USD), up 1.6% from the previous month and 14.9% year-on-year. In the January-August period, the figure reached 5.24 quadrillion VND, representing a 13.3% increase year-on-year.

Hanoi moves to maintain appeal to FDI inflows

In the first eight months of 2026, the capital city attracted more than 3.7 billion USD in FDI, equivalent to 83% of the plan set for the year.
