Agreementswere signed for the second phase of a project to clear mud from SoaiRap River and for a plant to treat mud from the current waterplants, which was attended by Belgium ’s visiting Crown PrincePhilippe on Mar. 15.

On meeting the Prince, the Chairman of HoChi Minh City’s People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan, said that theBelgian-funded projects are extremely significant to socio-economicdevelopment and environmental improvements in the city.

He saidhe hoped that Belgium will continue to support the city andstrengthen ties, especially in investment and trade. Prince Philippestated that Belgium ’s largest ever business delegation to visitthe country is aimed at boosting cooperation, especially in economics.

Hesaid Belgium is ready to assist and work with Vietnam , inparticular Ho Chi Minh City , and his delegation will focus ontransport, infrastructure development, water management, environment,green technology, education, healthcare and food technology.

Laterthe same day, Crown Prince Philippe witnessed the signing of contractsand memorandums of understandings for 12 projects on education,agriculture, aquaculture and food technology between universitiescompanies and other organisations from both countries.

He alsomet with officials of Lam Dong and Soc Trang provinces, Can ThoUniversity and then attended a ceremony to present the Beluxcham Prize,an award bestowed by the Belgium-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce toBelgian businesses operating in Vietnam .

Also on Mar. 15,several Belgian businesses, in conjunction with their Vietnamesepartners, held seminars on food technology and aquaculture, medicalservices, management training in water resources and public services.

TheBelgian company Sopura S. A. also signed a leasing with Vietnamese firmSepzone-Linh Trung for a plot in Linh Trung III industrial zone in TayNinh province Sopura S.A. will invest 2 million USD in building afactory there to produce sterilising agents for the food and beverageindustry.-VNA

First “green lane” durian shipment exported to China

​Under the “green lane” process, quality control begins at the cultivation stage, including soil sampling and monitoring, and continues through harvesting and processing, with traceability labels attached to trees and applied to fruit at the time of picking. It also allows plant quarantine procedures and the issuance of certificates of origin (C/O) directly in the localities where the orchards are located.

Vietnam pushes for deeper auto supply chain ties with RoK

The RoK stood as Vietnam’s largest foreign investor with more than 95.2 billion USD in registered capital as of February 2026, or about 18% of all foreign cash flowing in, with thousands of active projects.
