Reference exchange rate continues upward trend

The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,213 VND/USD on October 18, up 14 VND from the previous day.

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate for the US dollar at 24,213 VND/USD on October 18, up 14 VND from the previous day.

At major commercial banks, the opening hour rates saw sharp increases.

At 8:15am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 25,020 VND/USD and the selling rate at 25,380 VND/USD, both up 210 VND from October 17.

VietinBank also raised both rates by 210 VND, posting the buying rate at 25,010 VND/USD and the selling rate at 25,370 VND/USD./.

Taxes on real estate based on time property is held not feasible: Justice Ministry

In their latest draft of a proposal to establish a new Law on Personal Income, to replace the current one, the MoF has proposed the Government impose taxes on income from real estate transactions based on the period of ownership – or holding period – which is the time between when an investor buys and sells a land or property.
