Better leadership skills for female officials

The annual conference for the project “Enhance the leadership capacity of women working in the State sector in the context of international integration” was held in Hanoi on December 14.
The annual conference for the project “Enhance the leadership capacity of women working in the State sector in the context of international integration” was held in Hanoi on December 14.

Jointly organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry, the conference drew the participation of representatives of ministries, academies, and 20 cities and provinces nationwide, as well as domestic and international experts.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs cum Project Director Nguyen Phuong Nga; Permanent Deputy Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thanh Hoa; and the UNDP’s Country Director in Vietnam Lousie Chamberlain stressed the importance of human resource quality, especially the enhancement of women’s leadership ability in the State sector to serve deep and broad international integration.

It is necessary to raise awareness of the benefits that women’s participation in social activities has, which will contribute to improving gender equality in the country, said Bakhodir Burkhanov, the UNDP’s Country Deputy Director in Vietnam.-VNA
