Hanoi (VNA) – A total of 330 bicycles worth nearly 500 million VND (21,500 USD) have been presented to poor students with excellent academic performances in northern localities.

The bicycles were gifts from the Vietnam Red Cross (VRC) Central Committee, the Sai Gon-Hanoi Bank (SHB) and Dai-ichi Life Vietnam insurance company, the VRC announced on January 5.

The beneficiaries come from Hanoi, Hai Phong city, and Quang Ninh, Ha Nam, Hung Yen, Ninh Binh and Tuyen Quang provinces.

Child care, education and protection are always among priorities of the VRC and its partners in the understanding that investing in young people, especially those living in difficult circumstances will contribute to increasing the quality of human resources to serve the nation’s sustainable development and international integration.

Many Vietnamese enterprises have actively participated in social activities supporting children. In the time ahead, SHB and Dai-ichi Life Vietnam pledge to continue working with the VRC in other fields, thus contributing to the nation’s economic development and social welfare.-VNA
