Dong Nai (VNA) – The Vietnamese Government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency on August 31 signed an Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan deal worth 24.7 billion yen (224.5 million USD) for a draining and waste water treatment system in Bien Hoa city, the southern province of Dong Nai.

Upon completion in 2023, the project will increase wastewater treatment coverage in the city, improving public hygiene.

Dong Nai province has undergone remarkable industrialisation. However, its sewage system has not developed and untreated wastewater generated in Bien Hoa city is discharged directly into the Dong Nai river, affecting localities along the river like Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Ho Chi Minh City.

The payback period of the loan is 40 years, including 10 years of grace, with annual interest of 0.1 percent.-VNA
