The southern province of Binh Duong strives to have 5-7 new-style rural communes and raise rural households’ access to the national grid to 99.99 percent this year.

Binh Duong (VNA) – Thesouthern province of Binh Duong strives to have 5-7 new-style rural communesand raise rural households’ access to the national grid to 99.99 percent thisyear.

Accordingly, two districts areexpected to meet new-style rural development criteria, raising the total numberto five and all rural roads will be concreted.

At present, all wards andtownships in Binh Duong meet health care standards. The rate of clean water usereaches 99.7 percent while over 95 percent of rural households have toilets. Morethan 90 percent of farms have their waste treated and irrigation system ensureswater supply to all fruit and vegetable gardens.

Binh Duong also set the 2019 targetthat its rate of poor households will drop to below 1.35 percent, all poorhouseholds will get access to preferential loans from the Vietnam Bank forSocial Policies, all students in poor and near-poor households will enjoyschool tuition exemption or reduction, and loans for vocational training.

The province will also assistbuilding gratitude houses for poor families.

In order to achieve such targets,Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Thanh Liem said the provincewill support agricultural and small and medium-sized enterprises, collectiveeconomic development, and housing for low-income households.

Priority will be given toinfrastructure works in service of production and trade, he said.-VNA

19 localities eradicate substandard houses

Four more provinces have announced the completion of efforts to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated housing, bringing the total number of localities achieving this milestone to 19 out of 63 nationwide, according to the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

Vietnam accelerates repatriation of citizens detained in Myanmar
