The book “Days of war and peace” by Russian expert of Vietnamese study Evgheny Glazunov has made debut on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Russia (the former Soviet Union).
The 490-page book including nine chapters with numerous photos is considered as a handbook of the Vietnam-Russia ties.
The author, who is a former official of the former Communist Party of Soviet Union’s Central Committee and Honourable President of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association, based the story on his friendship with Vietnamese people studying and working in Russia and experiences he accumulated during the long time he worked at the Commission for Relations with Communist and Workers’ Parties in Socialist Countries.
Evgheny Glazunov had got the chances to meet the late President Ho Chi Minh and other leaders of the Vietnamese Party and State. He used to live in Vietnam as a staff of the former Soviet Union Embassy in Hanoi in the early 1960s. He was in Vietnam during the US ’s bombing of northern Vietnam in 1972.
After the collapse of the former Soviet Union , Evgheny Glazunov became President of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association.
He is also the author of other books on Vietnam like “War in Vietnam during 1965-1973” and “The Soviet Union -the unforgettable term”.
His daughter is also an expert of Vietnamese study and a lecturer of Vietnamese language at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO)./.
