Hanoi (VNA) – The National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) on October 7 issued banknotes with a face value of 15,000 riels (3.75 USD) to mark the 15th anniversary of King Norodom Sihamoni’s coronation.

A sub-decree on the issuance was signed by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

NBC Governor Chea Chanto said the new note depicts the portrait of King Norodom Sihamoni on the front. Its back features his picture taken with his parents – former King Norodom Sihanouk and former Queen Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, along with the sentence: “Congratulations the 15th Anniversary of the Coronation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneth Norodom Sihamoni (29 October 2004 – 29 October 2019).”

The main colours of this note are purple, lavender and blue.

The king’s photos are printed on the current banknotes with denominations of 500 riels, 10,000 riels, 20,000 riels, and 100,000 riels.

The monarch, 66, came to the throne as the King of Cambodia on October 29, 2004, after his father King Norodom Sihanouk abdicated due to health problem./.
