Cambodian culture exhibition opens in HCM City

Pictures and sculptural works featuring Cambodia’s culture and art are on display in Ho Chi Minh City as part of the ongoing 2015 Cambodia Culture Week in Vietnam.

HCM City (VNA) - Pictures and sculptural works featuring Cambodia’s culture and art are on display in Ho Chi Minh City as part of the ongoing 2015 Cambodia Culture Week in Vietnam.

The event was opened by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Cambodia’s Ministry of Culture and Arts on November 10.

The exhibits capture images and shapes of lotus, traditional Khmer dances, Angkor Watt, Bayo and Preah Vihear temples, Cambodian people’s daily life and the country’s UNESCO-recognised cultural heritages.

The six sculptures showcased were made of bronze, stone, marble and wood, with various dimensions.

According to the organising board, documentary films featuring classical Khmer dances, puppetry and jewellery arts will be screened during the four-day exhibition.

Speaking at the event, Hol Phoeem Na Ri from the Cambodian ministry said the displayed objects reflect efforts made by the Cambodian people in conserving their traditional culture values.

Le Ngoc Dinh, Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said he hopes the exhibition will help Vietnamese people get insights into Cambodia’s land, people and Khmer culture and arts, contributing to tightening solidarity and friendship between the two nations and their peoples.-VNA
