Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party’s Committee Nguyen Cong Soai received Deputy Head of the Historical Research Department of the Cambodian People’s Party, Keo Baphnom, in Hanoi on March 25.

The visiting guest, who is also deputy head of the steering committee for a project compiling historical documentation on the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship in the period from 1930 to 2010, led the Cambodian delegation to the annual meeting of the project’s steering committees held in Hanoi from March 21-26.

Soai informed the guest of the socio-economic situation in Hanoi, especially after the capital expanded its administrative boundary in 2008.

He also highlighted the friendship and cooperative ties between the two countries and between Hanoi and Phnom Penh in particular.

Baphnom said he hopes municipal authorities will share experience in building new-style rural areas and developing transport infrastructure.

Vietnam-Cambodia political ties have been reinforced by the exchange of visits by the top leaders, he claimed.

Bilateral trade ties have also enjoyed strong growth, with two-way trade reaching 3.5 billion USD in 2013, which is expected to rise to 5 billion USD by 2015.

Vietnam is currently running 128 investment projects worth over 3 billion USD in total registered capital in Cambodia.-VNA
