Cambodian leader hails Hanoi’s support for Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh (VNA) –Samdech Say Chhum,acting head of state of Cambodia and President of the Cambodian Senate highlyvalued the support of Hanoi for Phnom Penh during his meeting with Secretary ofthe Hanoi Party’s Committee Hoang Trung Hai on September 9.

At the meeting in Phnom Penh, Say Chhum, who is alsoVice President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), said he will make all-outefforts to deepen the comprehensive cooperation between the two States as wellas between the CPP and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV).

The host said he will continue instructingcommittees of the Cambodian Senate to back policies on cooperation between thetwo countries. The Cambodian Senate will also enhance partnerships withcommittees of the Vietnam National Assembly, especially in the exchange ofexperience in law-making, supervision and decision-making on the country’smajor matters. 

He also pledged to create the best possible conditionsfor Vietnamese people in Cambodia so that they can have stable life andcontribute to the host country’s development.

For his part, Hai congratulated Cambodia on itssuccessful election at communal level and noted his belief that under the reignof King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of the Cambodian Senate, theNational Assembly and the Royal Government, Cambodian people will overcome allchallenges to gain greater achievements in building a country of peace,independence, democracy and social progress.

While in Cambodia, Hai also met with President of the CPP’s Phnom Penhchapter Pa Socheatevong.

Host and guestaffirmed that they will do their utmost to deepen the comprehensive cooperationbetween the two parties.

They agreed tocontinue instructing departments and agencies of Hanoi and Phnom Penh totighten their collaboration in economy, trade and tourism.

On September 10, Haiand his entourage laid wreaths and offered incense at the Cambodia-VietnamFriendship Monument in Phnom Penh, one of the 17 monuments in Cambodia dedicatedto volunteer Vietnamese soldiers who died during wartime in the country.

They also visited thePhnom Penh-Hanoi Friendship Avenue which is being built with the financialsupport of Hanoi.-VNA
