Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Deborah Chatsis has been was presented with the “For peace and friendship among nations” insignia in recognition of her contributions to boosting bilateral friendship and cooperation.
The insignia was given by President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong in Hanoi on August 19.
The outgoing ambassador expressed her honour at receiving the noblest insignia of the VUFO, affirming that in any position she will continue contributing to developing the friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.
The VUFO President hailed great contributions made by Deborah Chatsis during her term in Vietnam, marked by the successful visits of the two countries’ high-ranking leaders, including those to Vietnam by Canadian Governor General David Johnston in 2011, Foreign Minister John Baird in March and Deputy Foreign Minister Morris Rosenberg in June this year.
She also paid attention to fostering bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, investment and education.-VNA
