Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Vietnam Red Cross Society’schapter in the southern province of Tay Ninh has organised free health checkupsfor and delivered relief aid to about 500 poor Cambodians of the Vietnameseorigin and Cambodians on August 11 and 12.

The charity event took place in Kampong Tralach district inCambodia’s Kampong Chhnang province as part of people-to-people diplomaticactivities between the two countries.

Speaking at the event, Hy Nath, head of the Kampong ChhnangRed Cross association, thanked the Vietnamese side and praised the significanceof the activity in boosting the Vietnam–Cambodia solidarity and traditionalfriendship.

According to Le Quang Trung, head of the Vietnam Red CrossSociety’s Tay Ninh chapter, the total value of the medicine and aid was 240million VND (10,341 USD).

Vo Van Na, 57, a Vietnamese-origin Cambodian living inKampong Tralach, expressed his gratitude toward the assistance. He said the aidlike rice, noodle, and sugar are very helpful for those who have just movedinland from their floating houses.

The Vietnamese-origin Cambodian community in Kampong Chhnangis facing a range of difficulties, especially during the implementation of theCambodian Government’s policy to relocate families living in floating houses onTonle Sap Lake.

Since September 2018, Kampong Chhnang authorities haveconducted the relocation of those households.-VNA

Reviewing the sector’s performance in the past five years, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said the scale of the national education system continued to expand across all levels, with more than 24.5 million learners nationwide. Ho Chi Minh City steps up law enforcement on fishing vessel monitoring system

Ho Chi Minh City has 4,449 fishing vessels, of them 4,301 equipped with VMS devices, making up 96.67%. Between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2025, authorities found 1,729 cases of vessels losing VMS connection for six hours or more, issuing fines in 196 cases totalling nearly 6.6 billion VND (about 252,000 USD)

Japan Coast Guard patrol vessel pays courtesy visit to Da Nang
