Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong has stressed the need to develop the Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) into a strong conglomerate in the region.
Addressing a ceremony, where Vinachem made its debut in Hanoi on Jan. 20, Deputy PM Trong requested it, the 10 th State-owned economic group, to review its development strategy and attract chemical production businesses’ participation in the group.
Vinachem should play a key role in fertiliser and chemicals production and business and it should pay attention to human resource training, he said, adding that the group should give advice to the State in development policies and strategies.
He took the occasion to highlight Vinachem’s contributions to ensuring the nation’s food security.
Vinachem Chairman Nguyen Quoc Tuan confirmed the group’s pledge to develop the petrochemical and pharmaceutical chemistry industry by efficiently using natural resources to serve the national economy.
Vinachem, which was reorganised from the Vietnam Chemical Corporation, now operates as a holding company with 28 affiliates and 16 join venture companies.
With a charter capital of 8 trillion VND, Vinachem specialises in manufacturing fertiliser and pesticide, chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical chemistry industry, mining and rubber processing industry and financing./.
