Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Sun Quoc-xiang held a reception in Hanoi on Sept. 29 to celebrate China’s 60th National Day (Oct. 1).

Prominent among the guests were Nguyen Phu Trong, Party politburo member and National Assembly Chairman, Nguyen Sinh Hung, Party politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister and Nguyen Van Chi, Party politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee.

Ambassador Sun said that after a history lasting more than half a century, the traditional friendship between China and Vietnam has entered a new period of comprehensive development. He stated that the decision of the two Party chiefs to build a comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership has reinvigorated the development of relations between the two countries.

He said the expanded ties between the two countries match the aspirations of the two countries and their people and accrue to their mutual benefit, stressing that the Chinese Party and Government are ready to continue working with Vietnam to lift relations to new heights.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Party, Government and people, Deputy PM Hung said that thanks to the combined efforts of the two countries, cooperation has developed steadily, embracing the guiding principles mutually agreed upon, of being good neighbours, friends, comrades and partners, engaging in all-around cooperation, in the interests of long-term stability with a view towards the future.

He stressed that since the two countries set up their comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership in May 2008, cooperation between the two countries in politics and diplomacy, national defence and security, economy, trade and culture have continued scoring new achievements, to the betterment of both their peoples.

The Vietnamese official expressed his pleasure at the completion of the land border demarcation and marker planting between the two countries, describing it as an event of historical importance in Vietnam-China relationship.
Deputy PM Hung affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, State, Government and people deeply appreciate China ’s immeasurable friendship and assistance. He expressed his wish to strengthen their partnership for the benefit of each country and for peace, cooperation and prosperity in the region and the world.

On Sept. 28, a similar reception was held at the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City .

In addition, a photo exhibition on the Chinese people and land entitled “China Today” will open at the National Library in Hanoi on Sept. 30./.
