An official from Yunnan province of China said his province wants to increase the exchange of visits with Ho Chi Minh City to tighten the friendship as well as boost trade and investment cooperation, especially in tourism.

Yunnan Governor Li Jihengmade the proposal while meeting with Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh CityParty Committee Le Thanh Hai on April 1.

Strengthening economic-trade cooperation for the development of bothsides is one of the important goals of his HCM City visit, said Li, whowas accompanied by a large number of businesspeople to survey themarket and seek cooperation opportunities in HCM City.

He affirmed his support for Yunnan businesses’ investment in HCM Cityand called on HCM City companies to do business in Yunnan.

The Yunnan Governor suggested the two sides study the resumption of adirect air route between Kunming and HCM City, thus facilitating thetrade and tourism development between the two localities.

Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee Hai spoke highly of Yunnanprovince’s great potential and said the friendship and cooperationbetween Yunnan and Vietnamese localities, including HCM City, willcontribute to developing the ties between the two Parties and States,as well as the friendship between the two peoples.-VNA
