Official welcome ceremony held in Baku for Vietnamese Party chief

An official welcome ceremony was held in Baku on May 7 afternoon (local time) for General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam, his spouse, and a high-level delegation of Vietnam, who are on a two-day state visit to Azerbaijan.

Baku, May 7 (VNA) – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse hosted an official welcome ceremony in Baku on May 7 afternoon (local time) for General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam, his spouse, and a high-level delegation of Vietnam, who are on a two-day state visit to Azerbaijan.

Following the welcome ceremony, the two leaders and their respective high-level delegations held talks.

They then witnessed the exchange of signed cooperation documents and met with the press to inform the outcomes of their talks.

This state visit to Azerbaijan by General Secretary To Lam is the highest-level trip by a Vietnamese Party and State leader to the country since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations in 1992. It is expected to further enhance cooperation, particularly in areas where Azerbaijan has strengths./.

The two countries have established a range of cooperation mechanisms, including an intergovernmental committee; political consultations between the two foreign ministries (set up in 2004); a sub-committee on trade and industry cooperation (2022); the Morocco-Vietnam Friendship Association (2017); and the Vietnam-Morocco Friendship and Cooperation Association (2021).

Deputy PM meets with leaders of UN, leading US corporations
