Coast Guards of Vietnam, India hold joint exercise

The Vietnamese and Indian Coast Guards on October 4 carried out a joint exercise off the Chennai coast, Tamil Nadu state, India.

New Delhi (VNA) – The Vietnamese and Indian Coast Guards on October4 carried out a joint exercise off the Chennai coast, Tamil Nadu state, India.

The Vietnamese Coast Guard ship, CSB 8001, joined in the exercise. Meanwhile,India mobilised three coast guard ships, one Dornier aircraft, one Chetakhelicopter, and research vessel Sagar Manjusa from the India’s NationalInstitute of Ocean Technology.

During the exercise, both countries’ coast guards acquainted with each other’scapabilities to enhance coordination in rescue work at sea.

Theexercise followed a scenario of the hijacking of an oil ship and subsequentrescue of its crew in the coordinated joint operation of both sides.

Efforts to protect sea environment and fight fire for ships were included inthe drill.-VNA
